Concept and Idea
Ricochet® is a dynamic new indoor fitness activity that utilizes a specially designed court, ball and racket, features exciting interactive electronics and is played on a dimensionally reduced court. It's easy for people to learn and to play, yet tremendously challenging and cardiovascular intensive.

The Court
The overall size of the court contribute to enhanced rallies, as the smaller floor space makes it easier for players to reach more shots. The revolutionary ceiling (270 cm high) helps to create a non-intimidating environment while playing.

The Electronics
Specially designed touch pads on the side walls are operated by the players to update the scoreboard on the front wall and show players and spectators alike who is serving next and from which side. A series of infra-red beams across the front wall below the red line activate a buzzer and flashing light when the ball is hit 'down'. There's no argument - it was either up or down!

Saving space with Ricochet® courts
Attractively proportioned and extremely well lit, Ricochet® courts imbue a deceptive feeling of space, yet they are small enough to fit side-by-side on a balcony, mezzanine, above or below a gym, studio or other facility. Two will fit comfortably in the space of a squash court (requires structural floor between courts).

Ricochet® Court Dimensions
Internal:

- Length 8.0 m
- Width 5.5 m
- Height 2.7 m

External:
- Length 10.0 m (includes comfortable access area to court)
- Width 5.8 m (can be reduced slightly if absolutely necessary)
- Height 3.0 m (can be reduced slightly if absolutely necessary)
Ricochet® courts are constructed using materials from respected market leaders, Glaverbel from Holland (safety glass walls) and Fiberesin Industries Inc. from the U.S.A. (high pressure melamine faced panels).

Always the Same
Whether you step into a court in Prague, Copenhagen, Warsaw or Amsterdam you'll feel at home as the all courts worldwide are constructed using the same materials and specifications.

Electronics scoring system
Interactive electronics have been designed as part of the Ricochet® concept, and add tremendously to the dynamic nature of the game. Foremost among these innovations is an infrared telltale, who determines front wall, fouls. Every shot played in Ricochet® must strike the front wall of the court above an 45 cm foul line or the area below it, an infrared beam is tripped, setting off a tone from a speaker which informs players that a foul has been made. This detection system is completely precise and provides an exciting futuristic element to the sport.
Other electronic innovations include a touch pad electronic scoring system, which provides in - court scoring for players and is activated by flush mounted touch pads on the side walls of the court. The score appears on a flush mounted scoreboard positioned center - high on the front wall, and is the high-tech answer to both players and spectators keeping track of the score.
The Ricochet® electronic system randomly determines which player serves first, therefore eliminating the need to spin a racket on the court floor.

RULES OF GAME RICOCHET

Generally

Ricochet is game for two players, that is playing on the interier court intended to this game with measuments 8 x
5.5 x 2,7 m. Playing surfaces of court - side wall, front wall and top wall are made from face prepared special for
it, back wall is made from shatterproof cured glass, floor of court is suspended soft-wood board flooring.

There are marked single playing section - service court, income court, outline for service including electronic
signalling and orientation line with darts on the floors and the direct-axis walls on the playing surfaces.

Courts are invested with electronic counters of playing state and positionfor servicing player.

Ricochet is played with unloaded rackets and special balls.

1. The right service

A server must stand at least with one leg closely in the service court
( limiting with centre, back, front and thin servicing line). A ball must
point at first into the front wall ( over the infra-red zone) and on the
floor it´s allowed to fall down only in the large section of emulator (
limiting with side wall, front, back and centre line - on the picture
marked grey). A ball in the service is played from hand. After
bounce from front wall the ball can but not have to tough also at the
side wall of court. Income player can return ball still before its fall on
the floor. Servicing player always has only one service.

2. The fault

The fault is in these cases:

- servicing player (red) doesn´t stand
at least with one leg into the service court

- a ball doesn´t fall down
into the income court of emulator

- a ball falls down into the centre circle
(it isn´t part of income court of emulator)

- a ball strikes infra-red zone (under the net)
- a ball touches at first side wall, then front wall
- a ball touches top wall
- a ball is returned after bounce from the floor, top wall or
wall ( player must service from hand)
- when servicing player gets over front line of servicing court
in the service

In the fault servicing player always loses a point and his emulator services.

3. The return of service

An acceptor (grey) can let a ball once fall down on the floor or he
can return a ball directly without falling down on the floor.

When a ball falls down out of large section and an acceptor anyhow
returns a ball, the game is interrupted for the fault and a servicing
player loses a point. Provided a player returns a ball without falling
down on the floor, the game is started, whether a player stands
anywhere or a ball could touch the floor anywhere

4. The faulty ball in the game (aut)

The ball is faulty, when:

- a ball strikes infra-red zone
- a ball touches line on the back glass wall
or space over the line

- a ball touches the floor before
touches front wall

- a player mustn´t play the first touch
(after returning with racket) with back glass wall

and then into the other playing surfaces

- a ball falls down twice on the floor before returning.

In the first to the fourth case it´s mistake of returning player, ni the
fifth case it´s mistake of an acceptor.

5. A ball in the game

A ball mustn´t touch front wall directly.

Returning (grey) can play a ball

into the front wall through the side wall

(see on the picture - bounce A)

or through the top wall (bounce B).

After bounce he must let play an acceptor (red).

Returning (grey) can cover strategy position

in the centre circle - from this place it´s possible

quickly to touch on the all sides.

6. Varied kinds of bounces

- long ball (long line)
- shot ball (drop shot)
- into to top wall and front wall
- ricochet into the top wall
after bounce into the front wall (backward top wall)

- side bounce (boast)
- by cross (cross)
- combination of bounces - boast/ top wall/ front wall
- front wall/ top wall/ boast

7. Limitation in the game - „LET"

Determination of limitation in the game

goes out of principle, that a player is
obligated to open up the space for the
emulator for returning of ball. Provided for
example grey player is near red player in
the moment, when red player wants to
return a ball and provided red player is
limited in the game ( however danger for
touch of grey player doesn´t threaten), the
interchange id played again.

This situation is named „LET". Provided red
player wasn´t limited and though a ball he didn´t play he loses interchange and grey player gets a point.

„LET" can also be in case, that for example grey player is too near red player in the moment, when he wants to
return ball into the side wall and it´s danger, that grey player´ll be touched, it´s „LET" and interchange´ll be
repeated.

8. Limitation in the game - „STROKE"

Grey player is too near red player in the moment,

when he wants to return ball towards front wall.

Whether grey player stands in front, next or

in th back of red player, it´s danger, that red player

touches grey player (with racket or ball).

Returning player must keep at disposal sector

in size min. 50% of lenght of front wall.

Provided red player keeps bounce and doesn´t return ball,

interchange´ll be scored him and he gets a point.

9. Limitation in the game - „NO LET"

In case, that player having duty to play bounce doesn´t evolve enough effort to make bounce and he requisitions
„LET" at the referee - it is made „NO LET" for this player. Emulator gets a point.

„NO LET"is also made for player, which returned bounce, in spite of he needn´t play because of limitation in fact
in the game and aksing for „LET" is predicated after this returning.

10. The stroke of player with ball

In case, that for example red player touches

grey player with ball, direct of bounce decides:

a) It´ll be played „LET", provided a would gets through side
wall or top wall in front wall
b) Red player gets a point, provided ball
would touch directly front wall over infra-red zone

c) Provided ball wouldn´t touch front wall, grey player wins
interchange and gets a point.

A player is warned because of touch of opponent. Because of three
warning of one player in one match, the game is finished and victory
is for opponent.

11. Balls and rackets

For ricochet there are used three kinds of balls, adapted with various levels of players:

- red ball for beginners
- purple for advanced
- grey for racing player

For playing there are used special rackets ( according to specification of single producer) for beginners and
advanced, for strenght and technical player.

12. Counting points, sets, matches

The match is played in three won sets ( the player, which wins first three sets, wins).

The victor of every interchange gets a point ( systém without losses).

The player, which by the own sevice gets 15 points with lead 2 or more points, wins the set. In not the case the
game continues, untill some of players wins either getting of at least 2 points over the emulator by his service or
getting 21 points aside from service or getting of more points.

Every player, let us say both of them have before match charge for kick-in about 3 min.

Pause between sets is 90 seconds. Referee supervises on keeping it.

The player lotting to the match as red player starts to play with tle first service. The victor of previous set always
starts to play other set.

By the help of electronic system it´s marked, which player starts to service. By the unequal score it´s serviced
from tle left side, by the even score from the right side.

13. The monitoring of game score

For counting it´s used colored identification of player: lotting is done with conjoined pressing START and RESET
and it ´s marked, which player´ll be grey and which red. On the result control lamp is lighted at the player, which
has the first service.

Contacted reversers are placed on tle side walls and are marked - red R and grey G, the result board, placed on
tle front wall, is marked in the same way. The players register thein points with pressing involved contacted
reverser.

In case of malfunction of electronic system the referee decides about score of match.

In presence of referee it's possible to use distance kontrol - contacted reversers are out of order. In this case
referee operates signalling „LET" and „STROKE" as well. When the last point of the set is played, control lamp of
the victor blinkej and it's switched under the numbers signallig finishing of the set. Before beginning of the new
set it's necessary to press START.

In case of bad notice it's possible correction by the help buton RESET. With pressing the result resumes about
one point back (maximum 3x). When ball touches infra-red zone, kontrol lamp switches FAULT and in tle same
time acoustic signallig sounds from speaker in contacted reversers.

14. Referees, main referees

The main referee is the main arbiter of tournament, he supervides on its right runnig.

For determination of single matches there are marked referees, in whose determination tle main referee doesn't
interfere, provided he isn't asked for it by referee or player within asking consultation. The main referee is the
final arbiter in this determination. Tle main referee can assume tle determination of match. The main referee is
deputed by the ČRA in cooperation with organizer of the tournament.

The referee is arbiter for every single match and he supervides on tle runnig of match (game).

The interrupt of game from the referee it´s possible only, when:

- ball is out of court
- bad service (aut) and bad ball at the playing.

Referee point sout in this case verbally, eventually in another agreed way.

Referee enters into tle court only in case, that tle game is interrupted for this it´s the

necessary reason.

The allocation of determination „LET", „STROKE", „NO LET" is governed by tle rule - see point 7, 8, 9, 10 of
these rules. In case of disputable determination referee can ask the main referee for consultation. Player can ask
for consultation, too.

15. The communication in the game with referee

Player can ask referee for „LET", other asking (STROKE, touch in the game etc.) from players in the game aren´t
allowed.

Player must his asking for „LET" enforce immediatly - with gestore of hand, eventually with completion tle word
„LET".

The deterination of referee is final. Player can enforce his dissent with procedure according to actual version
STP.

Referee after examination of his pretence indicates his determination only with gestore and that´s:

- LET - new ball
- STROKE - point for player
- NO LET - point for oponent

16. Culture and playing discipline, health pause

Leaving of court

Player during the game mustn´t leave tle space of court. This rule doesn´t obtain in case of damage of
equipment of one of the players (racket, shoes, etc.) for changing or reparing this equipment.

In case, that player leaves the court except of the above reasons, referee can finish the set in disadvantage of
player, which left tho court.

Playing discipline

Any verbal and other attacksto tle referee or oponent are reason for:

a) withdrawal of 3 points from game in involved set

(In this situation the main referee should be as supervised arbiter.)

b) to the finishing of set. Set is then written into the protocol of match as won by the opponent.

In repeated case referee can finish the match.

The offence of player is solved by Sport comision ČRA according of validity STP.

Health pause

Referee ruptures game in case of touch of players, let us say findings of score endangering health of some of
players.

Subsequently the game is examined as „LET" and player, which serviced before inerrupt of game, services again.
For examination of situation for continuation of game it´s important resolution of player.

The organizer of tournament must guarantee standard medical service.

17. The others

Other instruction and rules are completed according of STP published by ČRA.
